  14. I'm having some difficulties with dvips on our DEC Alpha running OSF v1.3.

  16. After successfully creating a dvi file with TeX, I am unable to convert it to
  17. PostScript.

  43. The first question concerns the unaligned access problem.  My man pages seems to
  44. indicate that this machine is able to process instructions, even after
  45. encountering an unaligned access problem (albiet more slowly).  Are you aware
  46. of any compiler options that would get around that?  I didn't see anything
  47. in the file ./dvipsk-5.519a/dvips/MACHINES that seemed applicable.

  49. That point aside, maybe you could tell me why dvips isn't working.
  50. Is MakeTeXMF something that I'm supposed to have?  How about the file
  51. CanonCX.mf?  If so, where do I get them from, and where should they go?
  52. Does the file "mfput.log" really get created?  I can't find one anywhere.
  53. I'm plowing my way though README files, trying to understand how TeX and
  54. Metafont and dvips all fit together (I don't know a mode from a base).  What
  55. documents would you recommend?
